Ancillary tasks

Ancillary task 1

Here you can see two examples i have got of social realism film posters, from them i can see how to design my poster.

Similarities:

  • Single portrait of the main character
  • From the emotion on their face you can see they are thinking
  • They body language shows them as a distant person (facing and looking away from the camera)
  • (half face
  • The background is rough and unwelcoming
  • A large range of small and large text takes up most of the poster and sticks to the colour scheme of the photo
Differences
  • Fish tank puts the main character out of the center of the shot in order to make room for the text and Must peter puts the main character in dead center to make us focus on them
  • Fish tank is in bright colours and Must peter is in gray scale

Conclusion

  • The poster should only have my main character (Jack Dench)
  • Have him focused on something else away from the camera
  • Have him somewhere were the background looks rough
  • Use a lot of texts and logos
  • Have the main character positioned in a place were i can mange a lot of text
  • Have the colour scheme based on the character, bright for a girl dreaming of a bright future for example and in my film i can do the same or keep it dull as he thinks he cant leave
Prototype of poster

I made a prototype image of the idea for my poster using silhouette images

Final Poster

In my poster i have decided to instead use different conventions then the ones i have found in current posters, the reason for this is that i wanted my film to stand out more than others and this why, by using props, i have made a more stylistic poster which has a lot of connection to the style and tone of my film.
